About Us - Quinis Equestrian

Building design has been a passion for Ernest from a young age. The past 20 years have seen him designing several different design disciplines, from commercial and high-end custom homes. However, Ernest found an extraordinary passion in equestrian design.

Ernest has studied at UFV, BCIT and AIBC Architectural Syllabus in BC, Canada. Being a horse owner and rider himself has taught him a fundamental connection between horse and stable. Understanding, yet ever learning how horses interact with their environment has been vital to his love of equestrian design.

Building Design

Since I was young I have always had a strong passion for architecture, however not realizing it until later in life. In 2015 I had the opportunity to go back to school and start working towards a new career. Thinking back to my childhood dream, I enrolled in the Intro to Architectural Design program at UFV. I was hired at Quinis and Envision Design Works the following spring and began my new career modelling dreams. Now I am part of a great design team, working with powerful software to create custom homes and outstanding equestrian facilities for some of the best clients.

Equestrian Consultant & Building Design

Working as a personal and administrative assistant over the years for various organizations, I have often pursued positions which put my detail-oriented mind to work. I grew up riding horses, and from a young age my love for all things equestrian grew. Understanding how the horse works and interacts with their environments was fascinating to me. I am passionate about context in design, understanding that the form of a structure needs to go hand-in-hand with its function. Working with Quinis has combined my interests for media, marketing, creative expression, and business. My goal is to meet exceptional, functional design with equestrian life; helping barn, rider and horse work seamlessly together. I do this through sourcing only the best equestrian barn equipment for our clients and our designs.

Building Design

I have always had a passion for design. It started with cars and how certain shapes and sounds appealed to me. As a child I found myself deciding between becoming an architect or an automotive designer. When my family moved back to the lower mainland, I pursued my teaching degree after graduating high school only to find out that after 4 years of university I had no desire to do that anymore. It was then that I was reminded of my love for architecture. I enrolled in the Architectural Design program at UFV. I've worked for both residential design and engineering firms for the last 18 years, most recently joining the team at Quinis and Envision Design Works. I am passionate about people-oriented, bespoke design. I believe all homes need to be designed to fit the lifestyle of those living in it. I love that I get to build amazing relationships with families trusting us to design such a large part of their lives.

Building Design

For as long as I can remember I have wanted to create beautiful things - whether it was helping my mother bake, designing and sewing my own clothes or woodworking. It is no surprise that one of my first jobs was in an artisan bakery. Over the years I have been drawn to beautiful things created by others, especially buildings, landscapes, and interiors. Why do we enjoy walking along some downtown streets and neighborhoods more than others? This is part of how I experience life - to look at the design of buildings and landscapes; imagining what I would keep or change. Graduating from UFV’s architectural drafting program has only deepened my passion to create beautiful things. Now that I am working with the Quinis & Envision team I find myself surrounded by mentors and customers with unique visions that they want to create. It is my privilege to play a role on the team that will bring those visions to life.
